The Corcovado Ring Adventure is Back…..25 years later!

Yes, after 24 years we decided it was the time for to return to offer the First and Best Trek Ever in the Osa Peninsula.

An Adventure Trek all around the Osa Peninsula, Golfo Dulce and Corcovado National Park with sea KAyaks, Exploring the Bigges Mangrove Complex, Solitaries Beachaes and the Calm Warm Waters of the Golfo Dulce where Turtles, Dolphin and Whales swim side to side to our Sea Kayaks

In the far 1992, wen the word of Ecotourism, was still new for most of the Travelers, we invented and perfected the first ever Adventure Tour that had been offered in the Osa Peninsula.

The name was CORCOVADO RING ADVENTURE, and yes, considering the fact that in that time there were not even regular phone lines available in the  area, and Internet and Cell phones were still dreams in Central America, just the coordination of the several activities and providers involved in the Ring, …was a real Adventure for me!!

The Main Trek, it was possible to get only a part of it too, was a ten days Adventure:

Day 1 : Arrival at the Mapache Lodge on the upper Sierpe River, briefing with the description of the activities, overnight at the Lodge

Day 2: Horseback riding from  the bank of the Sierpe River, up to the Mogos hill and descent to the Beach of the Golfo Dulce, just in front of the small Island of Mogos, Beach barbecue and tent overnight under the stars of the Milky Way

Day 3: kayak crossing of the Golfo Dulce and paddling up the Rincon River, were a special cart, hauled by a tractor, was waiting for to  bring the Trekkers , along the Rincon river, at the feet of Los Patos Corcovado Station, where, after a couple of hour of forest trek, the people were staying for the night.

Day 4: Trek in the forest all across the Corcovado National Park, down until the Sirena Station on the Open Pacific Ocean Coast and overnight there.

Day 5: resting and exploring the surroundings of Sirena Station with incredible night tours along the river and beaches looking for the abundant wildlife present there. During one of the very first Editions of the Corcovado Ring, our Guide, Mike Boston and some Trekkers, got a Jaguar on the beach feeding on a turtle that was there for to lay eggs, and they could take beautiful pictures of the Animal.

Day6: the same of Day 5…the environment there and the quantity of Animals is deserving a repetition….

Day 7: trek along the Pacific Ocean shore up to the northern Station of San Pedrillo, having the opportunity during the walk of observing Waterfall and Pristine Rain Forest dropping in the Ocean, Overnight at San Pedrillo Corcovado Park Station.

Day 8: the Trekker were collected at San Pedrillo with a boat and brought to the Caño Island Biological Reserve, where, assisted by a Dive Master they were doing two immersions in the Crystal Clear Waters around the Island and at the Bajo del Diablo, a huge rock , a couple of miles out of the Caño Island that, starting from the bottom, reach almost the surface of the water, where it is possible to observe Sharks, Mantas, Barracuda, Trutles, Dolphins, Whales, etc. etc. At the end of the day, the Boat was bringing the Traveler at the Isla Violines, at the mouth of the Sierpe River, where the were camping for the night.

Day 9: kayaking up the Sierpe River , across the biggest Mangrove Complex of Central America, observing the endemic wildlife, including very special species like the Mangrove Hawk that, during some hundred of thousand of years, modified the shape of his wings for to be able to maneuver in the dense vegetation of the Mangrove Complex. At the end of the day, the Kayakers were reaching the Lodge from where they started the Corcovado  Adventure Ring 9 days before, and overnight there, finally with warm shower, clean clothes, comfortable beds and a great Italian Style Final Dinner…often with a lot of Booze….

Day 10: return to Sierpe Town by Boat and ….Adios!!…

As you can see it was a quite complete Trek, and one of our Trekkers, a Person that in those times already did most of the most demanding Treks in the world, said, and I am still proud of it, that “….the Corcovado Ring Adventure is absolutely one of the TEN Best treks in the World…”

So, with these credentials and experience, , we think that we area able to offer to a selective Trekker, something that will remain in his memories forever.

We are defining the last details of the Main Corcovado Ring Kayak Trek, that , for logistical reasons will be a slight different from the First One, but it will preserve the Initial Idea of offering the Best of the Osa Peninsula and Corcovado National Park in a single package filled with the most interesting activities available here, selected by somebody that really did all of them and know what the Trekkers want and need.

In the next weeks we will publish the information about the New Corcovado Ring Adventure Kayak Trek, and the connected packages for who can’t join the scheduled edition of the Main Trek, or simply, want something shorter in time without loosing the possibility of enjoying  the Most Beautiful Area of Costa Rica, the one with the higher density of wildlife and the Biodiversity.

So, stay tuned for more infos.
