A Corcovado Birdwatching Experience while River Kayaking down to the Mangrove Cotinga Kingdom

River Bird-watching

This is the Bird-watching -Kayaking Experience that make the difference!!!...Starting from the border of the Corcovado Park, the River is running through open land, borders Forest patches, small lagoons for, finally reach the Mangrove Complex of the Estuary, where the Yellow Billed Cotinga has its living area in the Osa Peninsula.

BIRDS'S LAGOON

Wild Trails Adventures created this Bird watcher Experience for Pro Photographers and Wildlife lovers, in a secluded, private location, where animals are protected and they can reproduce in perfect security. Boat-billed Herons, Purple Gallinule, Aninga, Green backed Herons, and hundreds of Cattle Egrets, live, feed and reproduce in this small Reserve. We prepared an observation point where is possible to install cameras for still and video recording, without molesting the Wildlife, specially thinking to the nesting ones.

A Scarlet Macaw is Eating the Seeds of a Beach Almond

During our last Ancient Trail Kayak Trek, we had the chance to assist to the feeding of some Scarlet Macaws on a Beach Almond tree that is growing on the bank of the River.

This is a Specie that is included in the list of the endangered ones, but in the Osa Peninsula is a bird with a well established population that have all the respect of the local People, so we assure our Guests Photographers  that it will be here for to receive them.

If somebody was curious about the use of a such impressive Hooked Bill for a carnivoro/frugivoro Bird....well just observe how he use the upper part of his bill for to retain the seed and peel it with the help of the tongue.
